Our Head Instructor, Lawrence Clark is recognised as a leading authority in Bushcraft and Wilderness Survival in the UK, Sweden and Norway. In 1991 he attended his first bushcraft course which was lead by Ray Mears. From 2000 to 2006 he work for BBC TV Bushcraft and Wilderness Survival presenter Ray Mears.
During his time working for Ray, Lawrence instructed and led various courses ranging from basic to advanced bushcraft, junior and family courses, campcraft, tracking, primitive technology and arctic bushcraft. Lawrence has also taught bushcraft, survival & primitive skills to instructors throughout the UK.
In 2004 Lawrence's hard work was rewarded when he was presented with the "Ray Mears Instructors Knife". He is the only person in Scotland and one of only three people in the UK to receive this recognition.

Lawrence has a real love and enthusiasm for this subject which he studies, practices and teaches on a full-time basis. These attributes along with his calm and relaxed demeanour, great sense of humour and his passion to pass on the knowledge and skills of this wide ranging subject make him the ideal bushcraft & survival instructor.
His successful and proven career in Bushcraft has taken Lawrence to many other countries such as Sweden, Canada, Ireland, Norway and France.
Duncan is an assistant and trainee instructor with Bushcraft Ventures. He has had a life long interest in bushcraft, natural history and nature conservation. He works full time as a nature reserve warden for the RSPB, squeezing in as many bushcraft courses as physically possible at weekends and periods of annual leave!
Duncan’s professional experience of interpreting animal tracks and signs and plant surveying, coupled with his knowledge and general enthusiasm for wildlife adds a unique and exciting element to the courses.
Bushcraft for Duncan, is a way of participating in and personally reconnecting with the natural world as opposed to passively observing it (or ignoring it!) from within the cocoon of modern-day materialism. This attitude involves incorporating the principals of bushcraft into daily life rather than viewing the use of the skills purely as an “activity” or “pastime”.
In his spare time, Duncan is a keen wildlife photographer, sea kayaker and mountaineer, but also enjoys a good practical project and is currently building a 16ft Canadian canoe.
