Arctic Bushcraft & Sami  Expedition

...skills for living and adventure!
After professionally teaching arctic survival and bushcraft in Northern Scandinavia for over 10 years, we now introduce this truly once in a life time experience offering a unique arctic survival & bushcraft adventure like no other. Not only will you be learning arctic bushcraft & survival skills, you will also learn about the Sami culture and  make your own Sami knife. At the end of this arctic course, which includes specialist equipment in the prices, you will be taking your own reindeer and sledge on a 2 day arctic expedition.

During this exciting Arctic survival course you will be living, eating and sleeping on a reindeer farm some 200 kilometres inside the Arctic Circle of Northern Sweden. You will learn Bushcraft and Sami living skills for the Arctic winter, such as making fire, natural shelters, ice fishing, Nordic skiing, snow shoeing and much more (see list below) .

As the knife is an integral part of living in the wilderness, each student will be instructed, by a local Sami master craftsman, on how to make their own traditional Sami knife.

After learning the correct skills for the Arctic winter your Sami guides and Bushcraft Ventures staff will take you on a 2 day reindeer expedition through the Arctic forests with your own reindeer & sledge. During the expedition you will learn more Bushcraft and Sami skills and spend a comfortable night, in a traditional Sami Lavvu (Teepee).

After your Reindeer Expedition, you will have the opportunity to visit the world famous Sami church and museum and the IceHotel (entrance fee required for IceHotel). In the evening we will have a traditional celebratory and farewell meal before returning to our Wilderness Cabins.

Our Sami hosts will accommodated us in wilderness cabins which have comfortable beds, table and chairs and a wood-burning stoves, but you will also have the opportunity to stay in natural and traditional Sami shelters. Also on site is a wood-burning sauna, with washing facilities, toilets and lecture room/ canteen.

The Sami people have lived in the Arctic regions of Scandinavia (Sápmi) for thousands of years and have made this area there home. They have only been able to achieve this by having an in-depth understanding of ‘the nature’ and co-existing with their closest neighbour the reindeer.
