Highlander - Advanced Bushcraft Course
The first two days of the advance bushcraft & survival course will be spent at our
base-camp in the foothills of the Cairngorms National Park. Here our instructors
will assess your skill and knowledge level and help you to work on any weakness you
may have*. On the morning of the 3rd day we shall walk to a new location that will
become your new home for the remainder of the course.
While living in wilderness, in small groups of 3 or 4 , you will need to make fire-by-friction
and shelter (no sleeping bag), find your own wild food and water and make it safe
to eat or drink. Our head instructor will be on hand to offer advice and further
tuition on a range of subjects that will enhance your experience of living in the
wilderness.
Although this course is demanding, it is highly rewarding when you become one of
small number of people that have truly experienced living in the wilderness with
only your cutting tools, a pot, torch and first aid kit.
* You must already possess the following skills and knowledge:
Fire-by-friction, safe use of cutting tools, shelter building, use of fires, basic
plant identification, making cordage from natural materials, basic natural navigation
and experience of camping.
You must have a reasonable level of fitness, e.g., Continuously walk 3 miles.
If you cannot achieve the above, you will not be allowed to fully complete this course.
